Chris Pattishall thrives on collaboration. He has worked with artists across multiple disciplines, including theater directors Shariffa Ali and Kamilah Long, tap dancer Michela Marino-Lerman, writer Simeon Marsalis, and visual artists Najja Moon and Kambui Olujimi. Over the last few years Chris has branched out into performing and scoring for film, contributing to projects such as the Oscar award-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once, the neo-noir psychological thriller Nightmare Alley, and and the whodunit murder mystery Knives Out. He and Samora Pinderhughes co-composed the score to the documentary Going To Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project. The film won an Emmy for Exceptional Merit In Documentary Filmmaking the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2023. Pinderhughes and Pattishall were nominated for Best Original Music Score at the 39th International Documentary Association awards and Original Music Score at the 17th Cinema Eye Honors Awards.
Chris contributed music to The Healing Project, a multimedia installation by Samora Pinderhughes that premiered at the Yerba Buena Center For The Arts in March 2022. He has scored several projects for visual artist Kambui Olujimi (2023’s North Of Never and In The Dark, We Lose Our Edges, 2018’s Skywriters and 2017’s Where Does The Time Go? ).
In addition Chris continues to perform as an in-demand pianist. He has appeared at world-renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Whitney Museum, and toured internationally as a leader as well as with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Jamison Ross, Bria Skonberg, Vuyo Sotashe, and Steve Wilson.
